THE VISION

Arrival and Entrance
As you drive in off the road a long pool of water opens up in front of you reflecting a copse of oak trees to your left and the striking gable end of the house to your right. As you turn further to the right a sliding gate draws across to reveal the extraordinary cantilevered north wing dominating the secluded entrance courtyard and acting as a grand porch sheltering the full glass front door which invites you to enter. Further on another sliding gate leads into another secluded courtyard with access to the garage and the field beyond.

Reception Hall
As you step into the open hall a sculptured staircase in front of you draws your eyes up to glimpses of the roof above between a criss-cross of landings. You can see through glass lobby doors down corridors the full length of the house in every direction. This is the hub of the house. Everywhere there is a sense of space and freedom. Rather than a collection of rooms, the house is a single world, visually connected with the landscape and the sky but insulated from them by triple glazing, mechanical shutters and layers of fabric, both artificial and natural.

North Wing - Study/Workspace
